Mandat
La Fondation a été constituée le 28 avril 1986 et a été créée pour commémorer, de façon permanente, le 25e anniversaire de la ville de Kirkland qui a été constituée en 1961. Un fonds permanent a donc été créé afin de générer des fonds suffisants pour accorder une ou plusieurs bourses d'études annuelles à des étudiants.
La Fondation administre également la Barry Fanning Memorial Scholarship pour les étudiants qui, en plus d’avoir des critères pour une bourse, ont fait preuve d'excellence sportive et prévoient de poursuivre leur carrière sportive à l'université. Cette bourse est entièrement financée par la Kirkland Oldtimers' Hockey League et est dédiée à la mémoire de Barry Fanning, un membre populaire de la ligue.
Mandate
The Foundation was incorporated on April 28, 1986, and was set up to commemorate, in a permanent way, the 25th anniversary of the Town of Kirkland which was incorporated in 1961. A permanent fund was, therefore, created in order to generate sufficient funds to grant one or more annual scholarships to students.
The Foundation also administers the Barry Fanning Memorial Scholarship for students who, in addition to meeting the criteria for a scholarship, have displayed athletic excellence and plan to continue their athletic careers in university. This scholarship is fully funded by the Kirkland Oldtimers’ Hockey League, and is dedicated to the memory of Barry Fanning, a popular member of the League.
Bourses d'études disponibles
Chaque année, la Fondation des bourses d'études du 25e anniversaire de Kirkland offre deux types de bourses d'études :

la bourse d'études Marlene Elkas (valeur de 3 000 $)

la bourse commémorative Barry Fanning (valeur de 2 000 $ dédiée à la mémoire de Barry Fanning et entièrement financée par la Kirkland Oldtimers' Hockey League)
Admissibilité

Moins de 26 ans
-
Commence des études universitaires à temps plein ou être actuellement inscrit à temps plein dans un programme universitaire de premier ou de deuxième cycle (les programmes de certificat et de diplôme ne sont pas admissibles).

Résultats scolaires supérieurs à la moyenne

Réside à Kirkland depuis au moins un an au 1er juillet.

Participation active à des activités communautaires et/ou bénévolat pour des organismes de charité.

Les candidats à la bourse commémorative Barry Fanning doivent faire preuve d'excellence sportive et prévoir de poursuivre l'athlétisme à l'université.

Date limite:
La demande complète pour les deux bourses doit être soumise au plus tard le 1 juillet 2024. Les candidats sont fortement encouragés à soumettre leur candidature au moins une semaine avant la date limite. Les demandes incomplètes ou tardives ne seront pas prises en considération.

Available Scholarships
Each year, the Kirkland 25 th Anniversary Scholarship Foundation offers two different types of scholarships:

The Marlene Elkas Scholarship (value of $3,000)

The Barry Fanning Memorial Scholarship (value of $2,000 - dedicated in memory of Barry Fanning and fully funded by the Kirkland Oldtimers’ Hockey League)
Eligibilty
-
Under the age of 26
-
Entering full time university studies or currently enrolled full-time in a university undergraduate or graduate degree program (certificate and diploma programs are not eligible)
-
Above average academic performance
-
Reside in Kirkland for at least one year as of July 1st
-
Active participation in community activities and/or actively involved in volunteering for charitable organization(s)

(Barry Fanning Memorial Scholarship applicants only). Display athletic excellence and plan to continue athletics in university
How to apply
Deadline for Application:
Complete application for both scholarships must be submitted no later than July 1, 2024. Candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their applications at least one week prior to the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
